Opening Statement
I have incorporated a broad range of work which I consider represents me and a wide variety of my influences, designs and skills, which are essential to be successful in Illustration and Animation. This encompasses work ranging from Photoshop to Illustrator, creative photography, different examples of typography and the progression of my drawings from observation to imagination. Not only does this portfolio consist of work I have completed through education it also includes Illustration work I enjoy to do in my spare time which I believe proves my passion for the discipline and commitment needed in this subject. I have many influences ranging from Propaganda and the Constructivist period in the Russian Revolution to music I am passionate about to graphic novels, which have all individually influence my work in this portfolio. I feel that my most successful piece is my final Graphics poster which is promoting a music event combing the mediums of illustration and typography. This was inspired by a poster which was a mass collaboration of freelance UK artists. I think this piece represents one of the most interesting and unique ideas I have done and I particularly enjoyed designing each illustration based on a letter. My work throughout this portfolio shows a distinct style and my inventive ideas which portray my personality. Not only does my work represent the traditional method of drawing but I generated some of my successful spare time illustrations onto t-shirts using stencil printing. I believe I meet all the criteria which show I am a worthy applicant to your institution and I hope you enjoy looking through my work as much as I enjoyed creating it.
